Ryan Cowley from the Freo dockers was reported on the weekend for pinching North Melbourne star Brent Harvey over 300 times while Cowley was tagging him during the game. Harvey kept telling the umpire during the game about the pinching but nothing was really done about the situation. Eventually Harvey had had enough of the pinching and a fight broke out between the two, causing both teams to get involved. Did Crowley really need to be a child and pinch his opponent? Man up Crowley and play the sport like a real man!!
More than 1 million people have been rioting in the streets of Brazil over the last week about the cost of staging the World Cup. It has been reported that to make sure that Brazil have enough funding to be able to host the world cup, prices on things such as bus tickets have been increased. They have been angered by the contrast between shiny new stadiums and shambolic state of public services including health, education and transport. If their health systems etc are not up to standard, I believe that the people of Brazil are doing the right thing to protest. Why should the government spend all their money of stadiums etc when they could be fixing more important things?

Watson said on Monday night that he had the illegal peptide injected after the Bombers assured him it was within the World Anti-Doping Agency code. The question still remains to whether he should keep on playing and also should he keep his brownlow medal that he received at the end of the 2012 season, while under the influence of the illegal drug during that season?
I believe that Watson should be able to keep on playing this season. He admitted to taking the illegal substance but said that he did not know that he was taking it. He stated that he didn't know what the bombers doctor was injecting into him, therefore didn't take the substance intentionally. WADA president John Fahey said yesterday Watson's position did not clear him and reiterated the obligations of athletes in remaining clean of drugs. "You are responsible for what goes into your system. It's a strict liability," Fahey told the AFL website. As for whether he should be able to keep his brownlow is a difficult question. It was reported that the whole Essondon team was injected with the same substance during the 2012 season as well. Why should Watson be stripped of his brownlow when his team mates don't get stripped of anything? The question remains whether he should play or not? In my opinion, I think that the St Kilda club should suspend him until the court has made a decision to whether or not he is guilty or innocent. The club will be detracted by this incident, so by suspending Milne distractions on the field will not appear. The man has done something indecent, it should be punished for his actions, not praising him!!!
Milne is getting to the end of his carrier, so why not just end it now before things turn sour faced. For more info go to http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-06-19/milne-out-indefinitely |
